Transparency and Open Government meeting -- Jan. 26, 2019

The Green Team Committee's Transparency and Open Government Task Force will hold a worksession meeting Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, immediately following the regular Green Team Committee meeting that begins at 12:30 p.m.   The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building, 48 Washington Street.  A portion of the meeting will be open to public comment.  The public is invited to attend.

BOROUGH OF SOUTH RIVER GREEN TEAM COMMITTEE AGENDA SUMMARY January 26, 2019 -- Meeting at 48 Washington Street, 12:30 p.m. GREEN TEAM COMMITTEE MISSION The general purpose for the Green Team shall include but not be limited to:  Managing South River's participation in the Sustainable Jersey program; Encouraging the borough staff to pursue sustainable practices where possible and implement the Borough Council's environmental goals; At the recommendation of the Borough Council, work with the existing groups within the borough whose actions affect environmental issues so as to eliminate duplication and assure that important tasks are covered; Provide suggestions for further research and action by the Borough Council; At the direction of the Borough Council, provide advice and suggestions to the Borough Board of Adjustment and the Borough Historic Preservation Commission to assure that environmental issues are considered in their deliberations and action;  Manage and or

Sustainability Leaders

At our last meeting, the Green Team Committee recognized four persons as Sustainability Leaders in the Borough for 2018. We want to spotlight those who go above and beyond in being conscious movers of change toward a better and more sustainable community. Recognized by resolution are:  Denise Batista, Green Team member and Community Garden Leader; Jack Layne, Borough Administrator (who resigned effective Dec. 31, 2018); Donna Stoddard, the borough's Recycling and Clean Communities Coordinator; and Eliana Neyra, Environmental Commission and Shade Tree Advisory Board member. Congratulations to everyone!  And Happy New Year!!
